FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION

  1. What camera do you shoot with?

Currently, I shoot with a Canon T6i with a standard 18-55 lens. Sometimes I do use a 50mm prime lens.

  2. How did you start food blogging?

Ever since I moved to NY in 2010 I would always posted food pictures on my personal page because my mother would always take me to try new and different cuisines that I wasn’t exposed to in Trinidad. It was only until graduating college in 2017 that I decided to take it more seriously after I started following New York Food Bloggers. At first, I shot with my iphone where I received a lot of positive feedback, but once I started officially meeting food bloggers in the area and recognizing the better quality I can get with a DSLR I started playing with my camera that was collecting dust. As I continued developing my skills I began reaching out to food bloggers, gaining advice on how to grow my page and network and it was not until long after that I started reaching out the dessert spots and later restaurants.

  3. How do you balance your full time job with blogging?

Balancing is not difficult at all once you know how to schedule your shoots and prioritize. I generally do multiple places on the weekend as during the week I am working so that way I can still have enough content for the weeks to come.

  4. What do you tell restaurants when you reach out?

HOW MUCH I LOVE THEM, DURH! (kidding) When reaching out to restaurants and dessert spots my ending goal is to make a genuine and long term relationship with the brand. I reach out based on my preference in what I know I can shoot well and what my following will enjoy, other blogger experiences and reviews and for the pure fact that I’m always willing to try something new and innovative.

  5. What do you use to plan trips?

I usually use Skyscanner to find flights. I prefer Skyscanner over Google Flights because I can simply input my origin as to where I am and my destination to “EVERYWHERE” and it will show me when is the cheapest and efficient times to travel. One thing I don’t do is “track” flights; I firmly believe when you track flights it will only make the flights increase over time (i.e Hopper is a scam lol). Other than flights, I use Tripadvisor to also see the activities I can potentially do on my trip, and if there is enough adventure for quick weekend trip— I’ll book my flight.
